Today's Prompt: NFG: "Acknowledging Sources, Avoiding Plagiarism"
Is eating raw cookie dough dangerous? At this time of year, it is hard to imagine a more important topic on which one must have an informed opinion. You will be writing a persuasive paragraph on this issue in support of an original claim and stated reason that paraphrases from the Center for Disease Control and quotes from the Washington Post as grounds. Here is the article from the Washington Post--the link to the CDC is included in the article. You need to include the following elements in your essay:
- A thesis with a claim and stated reason showing your view on eating raw cookie dough and the reasoning behind it. Make this your first sentence.
- A quote from the Washington Post article, integrated into your text and using a proper MLA citation to indicate its source
- A paraphrase of a point from the CDC document linked in the article with a proper MLA citation
- A works cited entry for both the article and the CDC document that follows all MLA protocols, including formatting.
I will be randomly calling on three or four people toward the end of class to share their argument with the class.
